I took over Scene7 from a colleague as a sanity-saving and cost-saving move. I’d had experience and bandwidth with CDNs that made it a good temporary measure. After several years of managing the project, it was finally handed off to another team. In preparation, I drafted this guide to help train others in how each of our images work.
For this, I sat with one of our developers to begin mapping out the entire user flow from start to finish, including the backend processes and databases.
Unfortunately, once we reached the backend, I struggled with understanding the complex process of encoding, decoding, and re-encoding that was required to get the information through all the different systems.
The effort was eventually abandoned and an effort began to reformat the code.
